Johnstone Supply Builds New Facility

PORTLAND, Ore. - Johnstone Supply Inc., a distributor of HVACR parts and products with 291 independently owned stores nationwide, is rapidly completing a new distribution center in the Allentown, Pa., area.

The new facility is anticipated to open and begin operations in April 2005. The 100,000-square-foot facility will be the first in the Northeast for Johnstone Supply.

The new facility will service 68 Johnstone Supply stores in the Northeast, offering next-day delivery and the opportunity to stock a customized line of products reflecting the unique needs of regional and local HVACR contractors.

The Northeast distribution center is the first step in Johnstone Supply's new strategic distribution model, the primary goal of which is to meet customer demand for next-day delivery.

Future plans are for a national network of regional distribution centers to serve every region of the country and provide optimal distribution logistics, cost efficiencies, and delivery fulfillment turnaround.

Johnstone executives believe that the improved order delivery times and efficiencies will enable HVACR contractors to save time and be more profitable in their own operations.

"The launch of this new strategic initiative is a major step forward for Johnstone," said Johnstone Supply President Gary Daniels.

"We're continuing to see sales figures that far exceed industry averages, and building a more regionally based national distribution network is going to support and accelerate that growth. This new Northeast distribution center is just the first step.

"Our goal as a cooperative has always been to offer the best service and support in the industry. The enhanced product offerings and order fulfillment times that our new distribution network will provide reflects that vision and commitment."
