ARLINGTON, Va. — Combined U.S. factory shipments of 357,859 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for November were up 7 percent compared to shipments from the same month of 2001, according to Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) statistics. Combined unitary shipments for the first 11 months of 2002 stand at 6,373,042, which is 7 percent ahead of the prior year's shipments.

Heat pump shipments for November of 92,712 were down 4 percent compared to November 2001. However, the year-to-date total of 1,375,809 is up 2 percent from January-November 2001.
