Isotherm: ammonia chiller

This new shell-and-plate ammonia flooded chiller features a small footprint and ammonia charge, says the company. A 100-ton capacity chiller is said to have a charge of less than 50 lb. The evaporator works under the classical principles of horizontal shell-and-tube flooded coolers; however, the company explains that in this design, the suction drum is vertical. The chiller offers mechanical strength inherent to shell-and-tube technology, and heat transfer characteristics inherent to plate-and-frame technology, the manufacturer says.
