Well-wishers surround Sol Holtzin (center) during a testimonial dinner in his honor.

Industry veteran Sol Holtzin has been honored for his long involvement in HVACR, including 50 years as a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES). A testimonial dinner was given in Philadelphia in his honor by the RSES Delaware Valley Chapter, of which he is a member. Family, friends, RSES members, and industry representatives gathered for the event. In addition, letters of congratulation were offered.

"There is no one in the world more deserving than our dear friend Sol Holtzin to be recognized for a life achievement in helping untold number of individuals in the HVACR industry and in particular RSES," wrote Jack Hasick of Calgary, Alberta, who like Holtzin is a past president of RSES.

"Sol, in all his working years, gave unselfishly of his time to elevate the skills and knowledge of countless technicians."

Holtzin served as RSES president in 1981 during which construction began on a new society headquarters in Des Plaines, Ill., which is still being used for that purpose today. He was given the society's distinguished service award in 1971 and made an honorary member in 1982.
