HTS Texas Provides Largest Energy Recovery Unit in Texas

HOUSTON - HTS Texas recently provided Rice University with a bus-sized energy recovery unit - believed to be the single largest ever installed in Texas, and one of the largest in the Southwest - for the Brockman Hall for Physics. The building is set for completion in late 2010.

The new Haakon equipment, utilizing Semco energy wheel technology, will precondition 100 percent outside fresh air before it reaches the building’s HVAC system. This will provide a cleaner, more stable environment for the physics, astronomy, and engineering faculty and the sensitive equipment to be housed inside.

“We were proud to assist Rice in its quest for energy conservation, carbon footprint reduction, and environmental stewardship,” said Mike Donovan, principal of HTS Texas, a supplier of custom heating and cooling solutions to the commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential markets. “By using this special equipment, Rice University will save approximately $65,000 a year in energy costs.”

HTS Texas customizes solutions for HVAC and process cooling requirements and represents manufacturers McQuay, Daikin, Haakon, and more. For more information, visit www.htstexas.com.
