Doucett will be completing his Certificate of Mechanical Engineering Technology in May 2006. He has an A-average in Materials and Processes and Fluid Mechanics. Doucett said he is confident that when he finishes with this program he will want to work in the HVAC industry. Ron Samson of Kerr Controls Ltd. presented Doucett with his award at the office of Kerr Controls, St. John's, Newfoundland, on Jan. 30, 2006.
Recipients of the Orvil L. Davie Bursary can apply the award to their registration/tuition fees, training materials, or travel and living expenses related to their course of study. The Memorial Fund was established in 1987 in honor of HRAI's first chair, Orvil L. Davie. The purpose of the fund is to encourage students to seek a career in the HVACR industry by providing bursaries to those requiring financial assistance. Over 70 percent of the current fund balance consists of direct donations from companies in the HVACR industry.
