CINCINNATI – Two Cincinnati residents died last Thursday from heat stroke, the first reported heat-related deaths of the summer in the city. Ronald Buck, 42, collapsed while working in a yard and Betty Bright, 69, was found dead in her home. Bright’s windows were closed and the air conditioner was apparently not in use. Both cases were declared heatstroke deaths, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer, because the victims’ temperatures were 106 degrees or higher. In 1999, a July heat wave killed 18 people. There were no heat-related deaths reported in Cincinnati in 2000.
