International Comfort Products (Nashville, TN) recently unveiled plans for complete new lines of split-system heat pumps and air conditioner condensing units for its Tempstar, Comfortmaker, Heil, and Arcoaire brands. ICP plans to have its new products, designed to provide differentiated features targeted to the needs of each brand’s primary target market, reaching distributors in spring 2000. ICP said one of the most significant innovations in its new condensing unit product lines is the deliberate design for ease of service and installation.

Weil-McLain

Weil-McLain (Michigan City, IN) has acquired the brand names Williamson and Thermoflo, along with all assets, from Metzger Machine Corp. (Milwaukee, WI). The newly formed Williamson-Thermoflo Co. will operate as an independent business unit of Weil-McLain.

Weil-McLain also has received the 1999 State of Indiana Quality Improvement Award. The award was presented to the firm by Lt. Governor Joseph Kernan.

A team from Carrier Corp. (Syracuse, NY) recently met with the Athens (Greece) Olympic Organizing Committee to present “green” building and energy-efficiency solutions for the Athens 2004 Games.

The American Architectural Review TV series, hosted by John Stossel of 20/20 fame, recently featured indoor air quality (IAQ) equipment manufacturer Dectron Internationale (Montreal, PQ, Canada). The 30-min show was broadcast on cable network CNBC to approximately 60 million households. For the remainder of 1999, 5-min segments are airing as news breaks on 325 PBS stations nationwide.
