Feb. 8, 2011: HVACR & Mechanical Instructor Workshop Set for March

ARLINGTON, Va. - The 16th annual HVACR & Mechanical Instructor Workshop is scheduled for March 23-25, 2011 at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, Va. The workshop, which has an educational focus of “Fueling Future Success,” will provide general sessions, single-topic workshops, and opportunities for networking with major HVACR and mechanical manufacturers and other industry professionals. There is no registration fee for this event.

Developed with the collaborative input and support of nine organizations across the HVACR industry, this event is designed specifically for educators and administrators. According to the organizations, it provides instructors and administrators of apprentice and secondary/post secondary school-based instructional programs with the technical information and teaching techniques to enable them to effectively train the next generation of skilled workers for the HVACR and mechanical industries.

The 2011 workshop will feature as keynote speaker nationally-known education leader Dr. Sally Downey, superintendent of the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT), a public school district in Mesa, Ariz., dedicated to providing a productive, technically trained workforce to meet the market-driven needs of business and industry. Downey will address the importance of the classroom learning experience and how instructors can and should partner with business and association entities.

The 2011 HVACR & Mechanical Instructor Workshop is jointly sponsored by Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI); Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA); Heating, Airconditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI); Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI); North American Technician Excellence (NATE); National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers (NAOHSM); National Association Educational Foundation; Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association (PHCC); and Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES). In addition, the workshop is closely partnered with Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), Council of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Educators (CARE), and SkillsUSA.
