Environmental Technology Inc.: Deicing Sensor-Controllers

The computerized HSC-4 and HSC-5 are a combination of sensor and controller that operate snow- and ice-melting heating only while needed, based on pavement surface conditions. Built-in timers keep the heaters operating after the snow stops to deliver complete snow melting without sacrificing any melting effectiveness, states the company. The HSC-4 provides a hold-on time of one hour, while the HSC-5 has a hold-on time of five hours. Both units measure pavement temperature by compensating for their internal heating. The units mount close to the deicing heaters to ensure the pavement and sensor become dry at about the same time. These products are designed to control either hydronic or electric heaters.
