The HFK Thermo® expansion valve features interchangeable cages, bodies, and power elements and can be purchased as a finished valve, an individual component, or as a prepackaged service kit. It has a balanced port design. The valve has a stainless steel power element and adjustable superheat. The prepackaged service kit option offers 192 possible valve combinations, which minimizes the inventory that trucks must carry and makes servicing equipment faster and easier, states the manufacturer. The valve, available in eight capacities ranging from 1/4 to 5-1/2 tons, is compatible with numerous refrigerants, including R-12, R-134a, R-22, R-407C, R-404A, R-507, and R-502.
