EASA Releases Seminar Schedule

ST. LOUIS - The Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA) released its Spring 2009 seminar schedule. Attendance at EASA seminars is open to members and non-members. Seminars available include the following.

• Fundamentals of DC Operation and Repair Tips - March 20-21, New Orleans. The seminar will cover DC machine theory and operation, as well as repair tips. Topics will include testing and winding armatures, fields, interpoles and compensating windings, machine work, balancing, assembly, and final testing. The theory portion is structured so that entry-level personnel can grasp it, while the overall material is in-depth enough that those with 30 years of experience or more will benefit, according to the association.

• Principles of Large AC Motors - April 24-25, St. Louis. The course examines a wide range of topics including motor applications, safety considerations, vibration, starting methods, and reconditioning. While the seminar includes information on induction motors from 300 to 5,000 horsepower, most of the principles covered apply to AC motors of all sizes. The material is relevant to North American and international standards. According to the association, this is an excellent seminar for maintenance technicians and field service personnel.
