AIRSâ„¢ 50 is the first commercially available air cycle refrigeration system that produces air as low as -60 degrees C (-76 degrees F), claims the company. According to the company, the system uses only air; the unit contains no refrigerants. The system is comprised of a few advanced, but highly critical components: a turbine, booster compressor, heat exchanger, defroster, and controller, which cuts down on replacement parts and maintenance costs, says the company. According to the manufacturer, the defrosting process is unnecessary inside the warehouse. The maximum pressure inside the refrigeration system is less than 2 atmospheric pressure. Applications include cold/frozen warehouses, rapid food freezing, bioscience/biomedical industries, and laboratories.
