Copper Lock provides a permanent, leak-proof bond for copper pipe and copper/brass fittings on air conditioning, heating and plumbing systems. No heat is required. To use, sand the areas to be joined, apply a small amount of the product to the fitting and pipe, insert, and turn the pipe 180 degrees or more. Wait for 30 seconds before handling. Pressure tests can be conducted after two minutes. According to the manufacturer, for a test on an air conditioning system, wait 15 minutes after application. If a leak is detected, the user can take the pipe/fitting apart by using a propane or MAPP gas torch to heat the fitting. This will release the solder, allowing the pipe/fitting to be separated. The connections can then be cleaned and the sealing process repeated.
