The ScaleBlaster eliminates formation of lime scale deposits in water pipes, faucets, cooling towers, boilers, injection molding, heating elements, and other equipment without the need of water-softening equipment, salts, or chemicals, states the company. The integrated circuitry system is designed to produce a modulating frequency waveform that hits the resonant frequency of the calcium carbonate molecules, causing them to lose their adhesive properties. According to the manufacturer, the existing scale is removed and never reforms. The company says the unit is noninvasive and adds nothing to the water. Sizing is based on water hardness and pipe size.
