In support of their long-standing relationship with International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), The City of Los Angeles submitted the names of three candidates to IAPMO’s Technical Committees as they renewed their membership with the organization. The IAPMO’s Technical Committees are made up of industry professionals who review the proposals made to amend the codes. The code development procedures promoted by the IAPMO are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the development of American National Standards.

A Report on Proposals (ROP), compiled by the IAPMO’s Technical Committees can be downloaded at the IAPMO website at www.iapmo.org, or can be mailed upon request. Also in California, the process for creating the 2001 California Building Codes is moving forward. The codes being prepared for California's 2001 cycle include:

The 1997 Uniform Building Code

The 2000 Uniform Fire Code

The 2000 Uniform Plumbing Code

The 2000 Uniform Mechanical Code

The 1999 National Electrical Code

The codes will be available for sale on January 1, 2002, and the codes will go into effect on July 1, 2002.
