Carrier Receives IU Kelley School Of Business Award

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana University Kelley School of Business Indianapolis has presented its 2005 Kelley ACCESS Award to Carrier Corp., recognizing the HVAC manufacturer for providing creative learning opportunities for students in the nationally-ranked MBA program. The ACCESS award is presented each year to a company that best exemplifies Kelley's goal of providing students with real-world business opportunities outside the classroom.

Each semester, Carrier has welcomed Kelley students enrolled in MBA-level operations management courses for an extensive tour of the company's Indianapolis manufacturing facilities, exposing students to the day-to-day operational demands of a global manufacturer producing heating and air conditioning systems. Carrier has also supported Kelley's coursework in strategic marketing, offering senior marketing and brand management executives to speak to students on the challenge of promoting multiple brands in a competitive marketplace.

"At Kelley Indianapolis, we pride ourselves on building partnerships with the corporate community that give our students access to the real world of business, beyond the classroom," said Roger Schmenner, dean of Indianapolis Programs for the Kelley School of Business. "Carrier Corporation is recognized internationally as a leading manufacturer in a growing industry; it's invaluable for our students to see first-hand how the lessons they're learning at Kelley are being applied in such a company. We appreciate Carrier's generosity and commitment to business education."

In accepting the ACCESS award, Rick Roetken, Carrier director of product marketing, stressed the importance of advancing the next generation of business leaders, in central Indiana and beyond.

"We're fortunate to have a great business program like Kelley in our community, and we're pleased to support their efforts," said Roetken. "Looking longer-term, it's wise for companies like Carrier to expose up-and-coming future managers at institutions like Kelley to our businesses - we all benefit by supporting the development of a pipeline of a better-educated, more experienced management talent."
