Canadian GeoExchange Launches Webcast

The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC) will be hosting HRAI members in a best-practices presentation and discussion about Geoexchangeâ„¢ technology with municipalities. The discussion will be accessible via a simultaneous audio/webcast on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. Municipal governments across Canada are currently exploring ways to implement geoexchange technology to significantly reduce their energy costs and manage both municipal electricity and environmental profiles, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Ted Kantrowitz, the Coalition's director of business development, will moderate the live discussion.

Other invited guests include:

  • Municipality of Malmo (Sweden) - issues in building and integrating a district system with wind electricity.

  • Municipality of Springhill (Nova Scotia) - managing mine water resources to achieve over 65 percent savings and planning approaches for the future.

  • Region of Peel (Ontario) - how to begin strategic planning and the internal dialogue.

  • Housing community of Waverly West (Manitoba) - issues around planning the world's largest all-geoexchange subdivision in Winnipeg.

  • Housing community of Drake's Landing (Bill Wong and SAIC from Okotoks, Alberta) - solar thermal storage as a geoexchange opportunity and how they did it.

  • Municipality of Kelowna (British Columbia) - analyzing ground water issues and open-loop geoexchange systems.

  • The Canadian GeoExchange Coalition - National infrastructure efforts and a discussion of municipality's needs to support the implementation of geoexchange in the community.

Participants will be able to access this free audio/webcast by dialing 800-550-5602 and entering 7170 2119. An archived copy of the discussion will be available for distribution by contacting the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition.
