MISSISSAUGA, ON, Canada — According to the Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), Canadian residential air conditioning shipments increased 89 percent during the third quarter of 2002. Residential furnace shipments increased by eight percent and commercial air conditioning shipments were up by three percent.

Unit heater shipments in Canada decreased by 16 percent, while chiller bookings were down by eight percent.

For the year-to-date, residential air conditioning shipments lead by 51 percent, followed by residential furnaces at 11 percent, and chiller bookings close at 10 percent. Unit heater and commercial air conditioning figures both dropped by 18 percent and two percent, respectively, at the end of September 2002.
