Californians Are Saving Energy, Says Survey
A J.D. Power and Associates survey reports that 83% of Californians claim to be reducing their energy use. Approximately three-quarters of the respondents said they were cutting back use of indoor lights, and about half were using outdoor lighting less. Around 40% said they had reduced their use of air conditioning or heating.
The survey results are corroborated by reports in the media, which state that about 30% of the customers of the two biggest utilities reduced electricity usage by 20% in July compared to a year ago.
