Business Looks Good For Florida Contractor

FRUITLAND, PARK, FL — When it comes to promoting a business, contractors have lots of options: logos, vehicle graphics, a retail showroom, billboards, television spots, radio jingles, decals, door hangers, direct mail pieces, newspaper campaigns, folders, brochures, Power Point slide presentations, and, of course, a website.

Many contractors will choose a few of the above and see what happens. But at least one Florida contractor — Carl Munn of Munn’s Sales & Service of Fruitland Park — can claim to have chosen all of the above.

Carl’s father Aubrey started the business in 1964 and cultivated a reputation for excellence. Over the years, Carl has taken the reins. “I had a vision early on,” said Carl, “and I have worked with a lot of talented people along the way to help bring those ideas to life.”

Over the last seven years, Munn and his team have had Gene Crippen and the staff at Creative Business Diagnostics Inc. (CBD) of Eustis, FL, develop the firm’s promotional pieces.

According to Crippen, Munn’s Air Conditioning & Heating is held up as the premier example of successful hvac advertising in “The Power Image Program,” a seminar and website property developed by CBD.

“We have benefited from providing work for literally dozens of dealers all over the U.S., but no dealer has contributed more fresh ideas and energy back to this program than Carl,” said Crippen.

One project involved the redesign of a logo first introduced in 1993. The logo recently underwent another “face-lift” and evolved into a printed version of the three-dimensional sign which stands in front of the showroom. All business cards, letterhead, forms and even the company’s presentation folders are being upgraded.

“It’s been a few years since we designed some of these pieces and things have changed. We’ve grown and improved,” commented Carl. “I wanted new material that will reflect that internally and to the buying public.”

Key components to the company’s success are its attention to aesthetics and an understanding of how customers respond to businesses that look attractive and professional. At the same time, Carl Munn has always been careful to plan each step of the development and to balance the promotional priorities with those of staffing, training, inventory and equipment investments.
