The residential Power Direct Vent water heaters can be installed in areas where makeup air is limited or in an occupied room with a door that’s normally kept closed. Both residential and commercial versions feature a blower assembly that accepts two separate, individual sections of PVC, ABS, or CPVC pipes. The new models are designed to reduce heat loss, because they don’t use heated air from the living space to support combustion. The water heaters come in 50-, 65-, and 75-gal capacities. The units’ standard features include a Hydrojet® Sediment Reduction System, Vitraglas®-lined tank, non-CFC foam insulation, side connections for space heating, and a magnesium anode rod for protection against corrosion.
