Associations for the Week: The National Air Filtration Association (NAFA), The International District Energy Association (IDEA), Professional Contractor Association (PCA) and Bergin Brothers

  • The National Air Filtration Association (NAFA) announces the winners of two $1,000 scholarships awarded in the name of the association’s first president, Bob Bates. This year’s scholarship winners are Joe W. Fly of Dallas, TX, and Bonnie Ishimoto of Portland, OR. The scholarship is open to the family members of NAFA member firm employees, including grandchildren.
  • NAFA also announces the six winners of its annual Clean Air Award. Receiving recognition are: St. Charles Hospital (Oregon, OH), The Lone Star Park (Grand Prairie, TX), The Rainbow Connection Early Childhood Development Center (Murrysville, PA), Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, TN), First City Tower (Houston, TX), and Metro West Medical Center (Framingham, MA).
  • The International District Energy Association (IDEA) (Boston, MA) announces the opening of its new headquarters office in Westborough, MA, just outside of Boston. The new location comes just months after the association named Robert P. Thorton IDEA’s new president. The association’s new contact information is:

  • Professional Contractor Association (PCA) announces that member Thomas Bergin, owner of Bergin Brothers (Watertown, WI) has won the $1,500 grand prize in A.O. Smith’s “Find the Oldest Water Heater Contest,” after a routine service call uncovered a 50-gallon water heater manufactured in June of 1948.
