ARLINGTON, Va. - The board of directors of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) approved a new name and expanded scope change for ARI's Air Filters Product Section. The new product section will now be called the Air Filtration and Ultraviolet Light Treatment Section.

"We changed our name in order to facilitate future growth and developments of the section," said Eric Brodsky, chairman of the product section. "Adjusting our scope to include manufacturers of ultraviolet light treatment equipment will help ensure that North American manufacturers of this equipment are positioned to be truly competitive in our global economy."

The newly renamed product section will include three separate subsections: Mechanical Air Filter Subsection, Electronic Air Filter Subsection, and Ultraviolet Air Treatment Subsection.

The product section oversees the development and maintenance of ARI Standard 680-93, "Residential Air Filter Equipment," and ARI Standard 850-93, "Commercial and Industrial Air Filter Equipment." Both standards can be downloaded for free at www.ari.org.
