ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) has joined with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to revise ARI Standard 310/380 and CSA Standard C744 "Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps."

The joint standard supersedes the previous edition of the standard, published in 1993, which was based on the requirements of ARI Standard 310-90, "Packaged Terminal Air-Conditioners," and ARI Standard 380-90, "Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps."

According to ARI, the revised standard establishes a single set of requirements for the testing and rating of cooling and heating capacities and energy efficiency ratios for factory-assembled packaged terminal air conditioners and packaged terminal heat pumps used in residential, commercial, and industrial systems. Separate requirements are specified for Canadian jurisdictions, which reference Canadian electrical and mechanical refrigeration codes.
