April 2, 2009: DOE to Host Free Webcast on Energy Design Guide for K-12 Schools

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) EnergySmart Schools program is holding a free webcast, “Implementing Recommendations from the Advanced Energy Design Guide for K-12 School Buildings,” on April 16, 2009 from 1-3 p.m. Eastern time. The webcast will provide an overview of the Advanced Energy Design Guide (AEDG) for K-12 School Buildings. According to DOE, the guide provides recommendations based on climate zones to help K-12 school owners and designers make smart energy investments to achieve 30 percent energy savings over the baseline standard in both new and renovation building projects. Presenters are Paul Torcellini and Shanti Pless of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

The webcast training targets school administrators, engineers, architects, contractors, and designers working on new school building or major renovation projects. The 90-minute presentation will be followed by a 30-minute live question and answer session with participants.

Registration is free but space is limited. Only one registration is needed for multiple participants at a shared location. A phone and a computer with Internet connection are required.

An online webinar will be available after the webcast presentation for those not able to attend the webcast.
