Airtec Products Corp.: Rooftop Equipment Mounts

Big Foot Systems is a new generation of alternative equipment mounting that replaces old-school methods of corrosion-prone landscape timbers or labor-intensive, welded metal fabrications on-site, says the company. It supports all types of HVACR equipment, ductwork, piping, and other building services on flat-roof applications without penetrating the roof membrane. The mounts consist of prefabricated 1.6-square-inch (40-mm) corrosion-resistant, hot-dipped galvanized tube modules supported by 1-square-foot (305-mm) UV-protected, glass-filled nylon footings with anti-vibration mat bases. The Big Foot Systems are available in three standard module packages of 4.3 by 3.3 feet (1.3 by 1 meter); 4.3 by 6.6 feet (1.3 by 2 meters); or 4.3 by 9.8 feet (1.3 by 3 meters) or custom-fabricated with free, 48-hour design services to fit any equipment size, weight, or configuration. Each footing has a vertical height adjustment range of 4 inches (100 mm) for easy leveling. During reroofing, one leg at a time can be removed to replace and lay new roofing membrane, which eliminates disruption to building HVAC services. The system’s flexibility also allows easy changeouts or add-ons to existing equipment. Spans between footings can be easily widened or narrowed to accommodate weight-loading.
