ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) have set dates for this fall's Fundamentals of Load Calculation course. In three-and-a-half days, participants will learn the fundamentals of load calculation, equipment selection, duct design, and room air distribution. According to ACCA, what is unique about this training is that heat transfer fundamentals are taught as a foundation for computer-assisted load calculation.

There are no tedious manual room-by-room load calculations in the program. Students go directly from fundamental concepts to the ACCA Speed-Sheet spreadsheet load calculation software, and will return to work ready to begin applying their new load calculation and system design skills, said the association.

ACCA encourages contractors and their sales staffs, design and utility personnel, wholesalers, energy commission officials, licensing and code officials, and others interested in learning the proper application of residential system design to attend.

Attendees must bring a laptop computer with Microsoft® Windows and Excel already installed and a four-function calculator. Students will be expected to understand the basics of Microsoft® Windows. Some knowledge of Microsoft® Excel would be helpful. Attendees successfully completing this training will receive an ACCA certificate of completion.
