CHANTILLY, Va. — The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) announced that a public review draft of its HVAC Systems Commissioning Manual (second edition) is available for public review and comment. All comments are due on or before the close of business April 17, 2012 to be considered for inclusion in this new edition.

SMACNA said its HVAC Systems Commissioning Manual is intended to cover the full range of HVAC equipment and systems typically found in commercial and institutional buildings. The manual provides an explanation of the reasons for commissioning as well as supplying guidance to contractors on how an effective HVAC systems commissioning process should be planned and carried out.

A review copy can be downloaded at SMACNA’s Technical Papers/Guidelines web page at www.smacna.org/technical/index.cfm?fuseaction=papers. Comments should be referenced by page, figure, or table numbers. On comments related to text, be sure to include the specific paragraph reference. The association noted that all comments should be specific and accompanied by suggestions for improvement; generalized commentary will not be considered.

Comments may be emailed to techmanualsreview@smacna.org; sent via mail to HVAC Systems Commissioning 60-Day Review, c/o SMACNA, 4201 Lafayette Center Drive, Chantilly, VA 20151; or faxed to 703-803-3732.
