Ductless Split Shipments Increase Significantly

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — The Manufacturers Division of the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) released its first quarter 2008 shipment results. According to the association, ductless split system shipments showed the largest gain increasing 37 percent from 7,817 in the first quarter of 2007 to 12,436 in the first quarter of 2008. Chiller bookings showed the second largest gain, increasing 17 percent from 201 to 235 as compared to the same period last year. Unit heater shipments increased 16 percent from 7,468 in the first quarter of 2007 to 8,862 in the first quarter of 2008.

Other sectors showed decreases including commercial air conditioning shipments, which dropped 12 percent. Residential furnace shipments decreased 9 percent, and residential air conditioning shipments were 5 percent less than the first quarter of 2007.
