Don’t Joke Around About Hell

I appreciate your magazine but not the Comfort Zone cartoon in the April 23 printing. Making light of spending time in Hell, which will be an eternity, has no place in your magazine.

Editor’s Note: The following remark was made on The NEWS’ group, The NEWS Network, on LinkedIn, about what to say at a graduation ceremony at an HVAC college.

New HVACR Graduates Have Chosen a Great Career Path

You can’t go wrong highlighting how fortunate the graduates are to have chosen one of the most satisfying career paths that are available. Try to highlight that the trade is constantly morphing so continued education is necessary. What these graduates have is a great foundation, but working the trade is what this is all about.

Highlight the fact that in 13 years, 65 percent of the people in our trade are currently not in the trade today. These graduates will be the new leaders and teachers that our society will need to be able to flourish. As the older baby boomers retire, a huge vacuum of knowledge will need to be replaced. This fact is inescapable, and experience will be short soon.

Have them go out and have fun learning our trade.
