According to the manu-facturer, the OptiSpeed variable-speed drive with adaptive capacity control (ACC) can be added to new and existing chillers, reducing their energy use up to 30%. The ACC is programmed to learn and remember optimum speeds for variable-load and tower-water temperature combinations, then tells the drive to initiate the proper speed and prerotation vane position, saving energy while keeping the chiller in safe operating mode, says the company. According to the manufacturer, the OptiSpeed drive never draws more than 100% of its full-load amps.
