NORMAN, Okla. - The York® brand of the Unitary Products Group of York - a Johnson Controls Co., recently introduced a DVD and consumer brochure that are designed to help York customers understand the transition to the new 13 SEER minimum efficiency standard.

Both the five-minute DVD and the four-page brochure, "13 SEER What You Need to Know," are directed to homeowners. They begin by defining SEER and describing the components of a home comfort system. The material goes on to explain the importance of matching an indoor coil to an outdoor unit, and the added value a qualified home comfort dealer brings to the process. A discussion about environmentally friendly R-410A refrigerant follows, along with a list of questions that homeowners should ask contractors as they prepare to install a 13 SEER unit.

"We want to support our contractors by providing them with material that will help them explain to their customers the move to 13 SEER and the impact this change can have on a home comfort system," said Mickey Smith, York brand marketing manager.

"Both the DVD and the brochure use simple, easy-to-understand language to address the concerns of homeowners. At the same time, the tools assume an important support role for our contractors and underscore York's commitment to creating an array of quality resources and services that will help our contractors grow their businesses."
