Conventional and centrifugal oil separators are available in sealed and serviceable styles. These oil separators can be 99 percent efficient at removing oil from refrigerant gas, the manufacturer states. It can be used with various refrigerants including R-134a, R-22, and R-404A. The company says to select oil separators based on the tonnage of the system under normal operating conditions, and recommends choosing one with the nearest capacity to the system's load at the evaporating temperature for optimal sizing.
