Weil-McLain Lab Nears Completion

MICHIGAN CITY, IN — The Weil-McLain Product Engineering Lab here is set for completion in the fall of 2001, and will carry a price tag of $1,250,000.

The new facility, with Tonn & Blank as the contractor in charge of completion, will almost triple the size of the old lab, taking the overall square footage from 3,500 to 9,500 sq ft. In addition, the number of test bays will increase from seven to 14. Nine lifecycle test bays will allow for 18 boiler tests to run simultaneously.

Jim Baich, Weil-McLain’s engineering lab supervisor, said, “The new facility will give engineering teams and lab technicians the ability to have greater consistency in testing, along with room to work on multiple projects at a time, which should essentially increase output.”
