Neal Walsh of Aeroseal describes the company’s duct sealing technology.

CHICAGO — At the AHR Expo, Neal Walsh of Aeroseal explained the company’s duct sealing technology at a press conference. According to Walsh, Aeroseal’s technology was developed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory by Mark Modera, a former researcher for the U.S. Department of Energy.

Aeroseal is a duct sealing solution that seals leaks from the inside of the duct system. It is applied as a nontoxic aerosol mist and pumped throughout a building’s interior ductwork, where it accumulates and bonds around the gaps and leaks throughout the system until they are permanently sealed.

Walsh shared several case studies about successful applications of Aeroseal’s technology, including a 23-story high-rise in New Jersey that reduced its utility bill by $37,000 a year.
