Ventilation Highlighted

ATLANTA - Ventilation strategies for maintaining good indoor air quality (IAQ) in diverse environments, such as automobiles, surgical suites, labs, kitchens, and residential and commercial buildings, will dominate the technical program at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers' (ASHRAE's) 2005 Annual Meeting.

A total of 100 technical program sessions will be presented at the meeting, which takes place June 25-29 in Denver. Some 29 sessions will focus on IAQ ventilation.

Of the many sessions on ventilation, one seminar reviews the state-of-the-art in operating room air distribution design.

Another seminar examines design challenges in commercial kitchen ventilation. While exhaust fans in the ceiling could remove much of the heat produced by cooking equipment, the mix of smoke, organic compounds, grease particles, and vapor means the containment of effluent is critical to avoid health and fire hazards.
