LAS VEGAS - Dr. Patricia Stanley, deputy assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Education, will be addressing HVACR educators, trainers, and administrators at the second annual HVAC Excellence HVACR Educators and Trainers Conference, to be held March 16-19, 2008.

According to HVAC Excellence, HVACR educators need to be aware that new federal legislation can affect the funding of the education programs they run. Stanley will discuss changes in federal accountability, specifically for HVACR technical programs. These changes affect both secondary and post secondary programs. Her session is designed to simplify how a program can comply with the new federal requirements.

Numerous training programs specific to HVACR technical educators will also be offered to help improve the competency of the instructors. The 2008 training sessions include: Electronically Commutated Motors (ECM); Combustion Analysis and free certification exam; Residential Zoning and Direct Digital Controls; Proper Fuel Pipe Sizing; Performance Testing; Professional Observer; Air Measurements; Environmental Protection Agency Regulations and Environmental Issues; Chilled Water Systems; R-410A Program and free certification exam; Student Employment Opportunities; 13 SEER and Beyond, and free certification exam; Accreditation, Assessment, and Credentialing; and Green Awareness and free certification exam.

“Anyone involved in training the current and future workforce of our industry should attend,” said HVAC Excellence. “Attendees will learn about the changing technologies and issues affecting training and education in our industry. Continuing education units (CEU’s) will be issued for each workshop attended.” For more information, visit
