A normally open half-rocker switch designed for use in HVAC furnace door applications is available. This tamper switch is intended for use in furnaces, air cleaners, air conditioners, and power control panels. The high-power switch is rated for up to 21 A at 125-250 vac or 3/4 hp. In typical applications, the switch is used to deactivate or de-energize power to the furnace or machinery when access panels or covers are removed for maintenance or repair. The switch is packaged in a nylon 6/6 UL 94V-2 housing that incorporates quick-connect tabs. The switch mechanism is rated for 6,000 cycles and features silver-tin oxide contacts. Actuation force for the switch is rated at 425 g.
