Trane Relocates Product Production

LA CROSSE, Wis. - Trane announced that it will relocate production of two of its products from La Crosse to Mexico and China. The moves will begin next year and will continue over a three-year period. Approximately 350 jobs in LaCrosse will be eliminated.

Trane's scroll compressors will now be produced at the company's plant in Monterrey, Mexico. Production of Trane's gear-drive centrifugal water chillers will move from La Crosse to the Trane facility in Taicang, China.

Among the reasons Trane gave for the changes included reduced freight charges. The company pointed out that the product that will now be produced in China is primarily sold throughout Asia, with a few units shipped to Europe.
