The Chemours Co. announced it is investing in large-scale manufacturing to expand supply of its Opteon™ family of refrigerants. Chemours will invest $230 million over three years to construct a new facility at its Corpus Christi site in Ingleside, Texas, with start-up expected in the third quarter of 2018.

Helium Pulse brings smart sensing as a service to the enterprise

Helium, an Internet of Things (IoT) company, has announced the launch of its Helium Pulse™ monitoring and alerting application. Available for both web and mobile clients, Helium Pulse enables online monitoring and alerting of critical equipment such as refrigeration units.
An undercharge of refrigerant will cause low head and suction pressures, but that is not the only thing that will cause both pressures to be low. An undercharge will have low condenser liquid subcooling readings on the high side, where a dirty air filter for the evaporator will not produce low condenser liquid subcooling readings.
The supermarket industry realized a long time ago that it is impossible to solve environmental problems related to refrigerant leaks using a repair-based approach (i.e., with policies that focus on leak repair and record-keeping). Yet, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) main regulatory program to address harmful refrigerant emissions reflects a repair-based policy.

Daikin Industries Ltd., through its subsidiary Daikin Europe N.V., announced it will acquire Zanotti S.p.A., an Italian manufacturer of commercial refrigerators and freezers. The acquisition price is 98 million euros (12.3 billion yen) for which Daikin will obtain all company shares.
As Alexander Pope said in his famous An Essay on Man, “Hope springs eternal in the human breast.” I think of that saying every year at the beginning of baseball season. Everybody has hope for their team on Opening Day. In business, however, an owner or manager doesn’t have the motivation of the playoffs and World Series.
