The U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA’s) Denver Federal Center (DFC) campus is nearing the completion of its nearly 7 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) project. The project is GSA’s largest solar installation across the United States, and all campus PV is expected to be online by the end of 2011.

The national Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) enables low-income families to improve the energy performance of their homes. In the state of Utah, the program has meant the installation of 567 Coleman® high-efficiency gas furnaces from Johnson Controls and Coleman HVAC distributor Johnstone Supply during the last 12 months.

Energy Upgrade California in Los Angeles County has announced a limited-time increased incentive for energy-saving home upgrades. From now through Labor Day, homeowners who achieve at least 20 percent energy savings can receive $2,000 back from Los Angeles County. In addition, local utilities are offering up to $4,000 back.

IKEA flipped the switch on a newly constructed solar energy system at its southwestern United States distribution center in Tejon, Calif. This installation represents the second-largest, single-roof commercial system in the state, and the sixth largest in the nation.

Ace Air has announced the launch of Ace Air Cares, which will provide free air conditioning services for Phoenix-area charities during the hot summer months. The Ace Air Cares initiative is currently taking nominations from local charities that are seeking donations of HVAC unit replacement, repair services, and tune-ups.

The contractor, which services Phoenix and surrounding communities, has received the Clean Air Leader Award, which is based on the amount of clean air equipment sold. Source Refrigeration & HVAC Inc. announced that its board of directors has named Lauren Abrams as chief executive officer. Abrams was previously the president and chief operating officer of Source and has been a member of the board of directors since October 2010.

Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), SPG Solar, and SunEdison “flipped the switch” to initiate 2 megawatts (MW) of solar power for a multi-school program that promises to generate 25 percent to 60 percent of each campus’ electrical consumption.
