Tencarva Moves Up in Ranking

Tencarva Machinery Co., a distributor of pumps, compressors, and related accessories headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., ranked 59th - up 20 places from 79th - in the 2008 North Carolina 100 listing of the largest privately owned companies in the state published by Business North Carolina.

Tencarva President Rod Lee said, “We appreciate the recognition of our efforts. Tencarva’s remarkable growth is due largely to the outstanding performance of our employees. We are a service business, and our reputation and success hinge on thousands of individual interactions with our customers. We are blessed to have very good employees and a low turnover rate. They make it all happen.”

The 2008 North Carolina 100 list ranks companies by 2007 revenue. Although actual revenue is not disclosed, companies are grouped by ranges of revenue. Data is compiled by Grant Thornton LLP.

Tencarva recently was ranked 37th by the national publication Industrial Distribution, in its 2008 Big 50 list of top U.S. headquartered distributors, based on sales and earnings. The firm also was listed as 13th in the 2008 Fast 50 listing of the Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area.

Founded in 1978, Tencarva has 22 branches in Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
