Spotting Solar East And West

A large solar installation is planned in Massachusetts. The Woods Hole Research Center has received a grant of $226,308 from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Green Buildings Program for the purchase and installation of a 26.4-kW photovoltaic (PV) array and energy monitoring system at its new Ordway Campus in Falmouth. The PV array, to be located on the roof, will provide approximately 41% of the building’s power.

Two major solar power installations have been announced in California — a 33-kW system at Lunardi’s Market in Burlingame and a 10-kW system at the common house of the Muir Commons cohousing community in Davis.

The Muir Commons installation was done as part of a hands-on PV panel design and installation workshop, for which participants paid $650 each.
