SMACNA Member From Arizona Wins 2008 CURT Safety Award

CHANTILLY, Va. - Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) member University Mechanical and Engineering Contractors Inc. (UMEC) of Tempe, Ariz., won a national safety award from the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT). UMEC was selected for the Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Constructors Award due to its outstanding safety program in the specialty contractor’s category.

UMEC is the second SMACNA-sponsored winner of this award in the past five years. UMEC will receive its award at the CURT national conference of construction owners in Palm Springs, Calif.

In addition, UMEC reported zero recordable incidents and won first place in the “over 500,000” man-hour category of the 2008 SMACNA Safety Excellence Award Program.
