Sept. 9, 2002: Lennox Announces 100% Of Commercial A/C Line Will Use Copeland Scrolls

ST. LOUIS, MO — Lennox Industries, a subsidiary of Lennox International Inc. (Dallas, TX), has announced an agreement to incorporate Copeland Scroll™ compressors into 100% of its commercial air conditioning product line. The scroll compressors are manufactured by Emerson (St. Louis, MO) through its Emerson Climate Technologies business group.

Under the new agreement, Lennox will feature the compressors in all of its commercial systems, including its L Series® packaged rooftop units and 29 Series split systems.

“Our customers don't want to worry that their A/C equipment will fail because of unreliable product, and that's why Lennox is making scroll technology part of every packaged unit we manufacture,” stated Harry Bizios, vice president and general manager of North American Commercial for Lennox Industries. “We considered other scroll designs, but Copeland Scroll's proven high-efficiency and unbeatable reliability make it the best match for our commercial products.”

“Like Lennox, we understand the importance that retailers and commercial businesses place on system reliability,” said Scott Barbour, executive vice president of Copeland's air conditioning division. “We place just as much importance on manufacturing scroll compressors that will stand up to the toughest operating conditions, and we've enjoyed working with Lennox to achieve the high reliability standards that customers expect.”

“This is a great step forward for both companies,” said Tom Bettcher, CEO of Copeland and business leader for Emerson Climate Technologies. “The natural synergy between Lennox' commercial products and Copeland Scroll technology has resulted in the most rewarding partnership of all — one that drives better performance for the customer.”
