WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Alexander Karsner has announced that DOE will award $6 million to 22 federal-state partnerships that will work to save energy in residential and commercial buildings. The focus of the partnerships will be on building energy codes and training and technical assistance programs that will result in more energy-efficient buildings.

EERE's Building Technologies Program will oversee the project funds, including $3.9 million to be awarded this month, with the remaining funding to be provided over the next two fiscal years.

The states receiving funding include California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.
