Sept. 16, 2008: EH&E Announces ‘Pathways to Campus Sustainability' Webinar Series

September 16, 2008

NEEDHAM, Mass. - A series of Webinars aimed at providing solutions for the challenges facing colleges and universities in meeting campus sustainability goals is being presented by EH&E Inc., a leading environmental engineering and consulting firm on green initiatives in higher education.

Colleges and universities across the country are making public commitments to significantly reduce their campus carbon footprint by eliminating wasteful energy consumption, says EH&E. Its four-part “Pathways to Campus Sustainability” Webinar series directly addresses the issues involved in making good on these commitments.

The seminars run September through October. Each Webinar will include one hour of presentations followed by a half-hour of live Q&A. The series includes:

• “Charting the Path to Campus Sustainability,” Sept. 17, 2008, 1:00-2:30 p.m. Eastern time. Learn about and discuss the most up-to-date tools and knowledge necessary to manage a successful campus sustainability program. Presenters are: John Spengler, Ph.D., co-chair, Harvard Green Campus Initiative and principal, EH&E (moderator); Michael Crowley, LEED AP, Pathways to Campus Sustainability program manager, EH&E, and former assistant director, Harvard Green Campus Initiative; and William Nelligan, associate director, Environmental Health & Safety, Wesleyan University.

• “Greenhouse Gas Inventories: Methods and Best Practices,” Oct. 1, 2008, 1:00-2:30 p.m. Eastern time. Discuss the emerging standards, regulatory frameworks, and the pros and cons of various existing calculator tools and methodologies for greenhouse gas inventories. Presenters are: Michael Crowley, LEED AP, Pathways to Campus Sustainability program manager, EH&E and former assistant director, Harvard Green Campus Initiative; and Denise Sheehan, regional director, East, The Climate Registry.

• “Writing a Greenhouse Gas Action Plan,” Oct. 15, 2008, 1:00-2:30 p.m. Eastern time. Learn about the tools and templates necessary to develop an effective greenhouse gas reduction plan that can be tailored to your institution, with a particular focus on the Climate Action Plan requirements of the ACUPCC. Presenters are: Michael Crowley, LEED AP, Pathways to Campus Sustainability program manager, EH&E, and former assistant director, Harvard Green Campus Initiative; and Robert Bland, P.E., director of Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Office, Cornell University.

• “Financial Mechanisms for Campus Sustainability,” Oct. 29, 2008, 1:00-2:30 p.m. Eastern time. Discuss how tools such as life cycle costing and third-party financing are helping institutions to meet their sustainability goals while saving money. Presenters are: Michael Crowley, LEED AP, Pathways to Campus Sustainability program manager, EH&E, and former assistant director, Harvard Green Campus Initiative; and David Newport, director, Environmental Center, University of Colorado at Boulder.
