A prepackaged, multiphase, variable-frequency drive, the HR1018, combines the latest in 18-pulse technology with the company’s AC variable-torque vector drive for exceptional energy efficiency and low harmonic distortion, the company says. Typical current distortion measurements from the unit range from 3 percent to 4 percent, measured at the drive terminals. The pre-engineered package can include three contactor bypass, Smart Bypass®, and duplex motor control. According to the manufacturer, this UL508 design provides the user with clean power operation that meets or exceeds the IEEE-519 Standard without the use of external chokes or filters. Standard configurations are available in 460-V, 50- or 60-Hz, 30- to 800-hp designs.
