According to RSES, passing one of the Certificate Member Specialist exams is equivalent to a master's degree and allows the member to place the designation CMS after their name. Upon passing all five CMS examinations, the member is said to have attained the equivalent of a doctorate degree. The examinations aim is to provide a means for recognizing member's abilities to meet the highest standards of specific knowledge, experience, and competences as defined by the society and industry.

Bloomfield, a resident of Winnipeg and instructor at Red River College, passed the Commercial Air Conditioning exam in addition to receiving the highest mark award in RSES International for the Commercial Refrigeration Specialist Exam he passed on May 1, 2004. He was recognized at the recent international conference held in Calgary, Alberta.

Brown, a resident of Winnipeg and service technician for Air-Rite Refrigeration and Mechanical Inc. passed the Domestic Refrigeration exam. Brown works primarily in the commercial sector of the industry, servicing fast food and restaurant facilities.

Baker is a resident of Winnipeg and president of Custom Vac Limited. He passed the Domestic Refrigeration exam in addition to receiving the highest mark award in RSES International for the Heating Specialist Exam he passed in 2003. He was recognized at the recent international conference in Calgary.

Baker also serves the society as the Region 16 director. "Educating our workforce and customers is a responsibility that I take very serious. Each and every one of us as technicians must do our part to transfer the knowledge that we received from our mentors. Knowledge should not be used as power but as a means of helping someone realize their potential in our industry," he said.
